Official Rules
1. Team Size: Games are 6 v 6. Substitutions are allowed at the top of each inning if a team has more than 6 players.
2. Pitching: A designated pitcher pitches for both teams. The designated pitcher cannot make plays for the defense, they can only pitch
3. No Bunting: A no-bunt line is set 10 feet from home plate. If a batted ball doesn’t cross this line, it’s automatically a foul.
4. Outs: Outs are recorded when the following happen:
- Force outs
- Tag outs
- Caught fly balls
- Peg outs below the neck (hitting a runner with the ball while they’re running)
5. Infield Fly Rule: Applies when there’s a force play at third base with 0 or 1 out.
6. At-Bat Rules:
- 3 strikes per out, 4 balls for a walk.
- A strike is called if the ball hits the rectangular strike zone, the batter swings and misses, or hits a foul ball.
- A hit batter counts as a ball.
- No foul outs.
7. Scoring at Home Plate:
- With no catcher, a fielder must throw the ball to hit the strike zone behind home plate to get a runner out.
- If there’s no force at home, the bunt line (10 feet from home) marks the point of no return for a runner from third.
- The runner is out if the throw hits the strike zone and passes home plate before the runner touches it.
- The runner is safe if the throw misses the strike zone or doesn’t reach home plate before the runner.
- Once the ball hits the strike zone, it’s a dead ball, and runners cannot advance.
8. Base Running: No stealing or leading off bases.
9. Home Runs: A home run is any ball that:
- Goes over the outfield fence, or
- Lands beyond the turf in fair outfield territory.
10. Ground Rule Double: At the umpire’s discretion, a ball hit in play that:
- Goes foul,
- Gets stuck in a hard-to-reach place, or
- Bounces over the outfield wall
is ruled a ground rule double.
11. Run Limits:
- 6-run limit per inning, except in the 3rd inning, where there’s no run limit.
- Each team gets 3 outs per inning.
12. Game Length: Games consist of 3 innings.
