MEET THE PROS
CLYDE + RUTH BALLARD
Clyde learned his work ethic from migrant parents who landed in Wenatchee following the fruit harvest. He started working at Peter Rabbit’s grocery store as a box boy, working his way up to a general manager of two stores. When the stores were sold he painted for a period of time.
In 1967 he and Ruth started an ambulance business. They built it from a small business working out of their own home to a thriving business that serviced all of Eastern Wa. Considered pioneering innovators in the field of first responders, Clyde developed many of the practices that are commonplace today, including partnering with local doctors to write most of the RCW's for the current EMS for the state of Washington. They expanded the business to include medical supplies, selling ambulances, and even a security division. They were also the first ones to obtain an air-ambulance license in the state of WA.
In the late 70's, Clyde got involved in politics via the local water district. From there he was elected to the house of representatives where he served the legislative for 20 years. He was Speaker of the House for 4 years, Co-Speaker for 3 years, and when he left the legislature was the longest-serving leader in the history of Washington state.
Through all of this and much more, there was one common denominator...Clyde and Ruth did everything together. They were known as a formidable team. They worked, traveled, raised kids, and built their businesses together. They raised 3 boys and 2 foster daughters together. They served in Olympia together. They served in their local churches together. They've been this kind of team for over 60 years, and they'd love to talk to you about learning to to do life together.
