Jesus Says Take Off The Mask

Jesus calls those who claim to follow him but live a life contrary to his teaching hypocrites. In Jesus' time, a hypocrite was an actor who performed on stage pretending to be someone he was not for the entertainment of the crowd, and did all of it behind the disguise of a theatrical mask. In calling out our hypocrisy, Jesus calls us into the freedom of living a fully integrated and authentic life. No more pretending or performing, Jesus says: take off the mask.
