Temptation, You, and Jesus

Mar 8, 2015    Pastor Josh McPherson    James 1:13-18

Every fisherman knows that in order to catch a fish, you have to bait the hook. After the fish bites he sets the set the hook with a jerk, reels the fish in, pulls it into the boat, clubs it over the head and guts it out on the deck of the ship. Temptation is like that baited hook, and every day we swim by and are tempted to bite.

In probably the most robust teaching on the deadly nature of temptation and sin in all of Scripture, James teaches us not only about the nature of temptation, but how it uniquely affects all of us and how we can look to Jesus in the fight to resist it.
