Patience in Suffering

May 10, 2015    Pastor Adam James    James 5:7-12

Patience is not passivity, it's actually the fruit of intense internal war for our hearts. Patience is not about waiting for our circumstances to change as much as it is experiencing heart change while we wait. External burdens lead to internal pressure, and the temptation to react in all kinds of destructive ways. Usually those closest to us bear the brunt of our impatience and grumbling. James calls his readers to be patient in the midst of suffering and to establish their hearts and guard their mouths from grumbling. When trials and storms come we need to establish our hearts with the truth that God is in charge and He is compassionate and faithful, and his coming is at hand. Jesus' patience lead to our salvation and he waits still for us and others to come to him. Need patience? Grab a Bible and follow along.
